Undefeated Top Contender Vergil Ortiz Jr (23-0 , 21 KO's) takes on #7 ranked Erickson Lubin (27-2 , 19 KO's) for the WBC interim title .
On November 11th Vergil Ortiz Jr. looks to continue his undefeated record by taking on a heavy hitter that can catapult him to a big fight next . In his last fight he took Israil Madrimov , who is one of the most skilled boxers at Welterweight . Ortiz started off a bit slow in the beginning of the fight but picked it up around the 5th round and took the fight from there . He pushed the pressure and cut off the ring all night to land his combos and force Madrimov to retreat most of the night . Ortiz has shown he has the aggressiveness and footwork to turn a fight into a war or dog fight , and he has shown he is one of the best in the world at it right now in the sport of boxing . With an opponent like Lubin , he should be right at home . Vergil should look to push the pressure and box within the phone booth and land combos to the body and head , if he can do this successfully against Lubin early I can see a KO/TKO stoppage between round 5 to 8 and lining up Vergil for a BIG boxing match for his next fight .
For Erickson Lubin he has nothing to lose , as he has fought some of the best fighters in the world and only came up short against two of the best champions in Jermell Charlo and Sebastian Fundora . Lubin has look great since losing to Fundora in April 2022 , currently riding a three fight win streak with two of them ending in TKO . In his last fight he looked great against Ardeal Holmes Jr. , where through out the fight Lubin stayed in the phone booth with Holmes and made him fight his fight . Landing great combos and counters and eventually getting the TKO finish in round 11 . If Lubin can land his big power shots and mix it up to the body and head , he can possibly take Ortiz the distance in this fight and give himself a chance to win .

He is better everywhere against Lubin heading into this fight . He has more power , he is more explosive , better footwork , a phenomenal chin , better accuracy , and has the more dangerous counter punch . Vergil should look to use this fight as a message and look for a quick finish .
With his skill sets and explosiveness , he should use his aggressive style and footwork to force Lubin into a phone booth fight or force him to move backwards into the ropes or corner where he can open up and put damage on Lubin .
I have Vergil Ortiz Jr. getting the Win today by KO/TKO and becoming the WBC interim Super Welterweight Champion . If he can be aggressive earlier against Lubin compared to his last fight , Vergil should have no problem getting a finish by round 5 , no later than round 8 . And if he can get a win today in spectacular fashion it will line up Vergil to get a big name fight in his next match .
